Appalcore Books is a small self-published business started by Charles and Margaret Fairchild. Our books are stories of hope, inspiration, and love. Stories to take you back in time. Our little books are homemade, and some of the covers are illustrated by the author, Charles P. Fairchild. All of the books are easy to read by folks aged 12 or 112. You can read one of these little books in 10-15 minutes. Our hope is that you find them moving and inspirational.
Charles P. Fairchild is a retired school teacher who taught English, speech, drama, and creative writing, primarily in Ohio secondary schools. Born in Pippa Passes, Kentucky in the mid-1930's, he grew up and attended public school there and in nearby Wayland, Kentucky. He went on to Georgetown College (KY) and Ball State University (IN), earning his Master of Arts degree. He began writing in 1950, both fiction and non-fiction, some plays and novels. Charles now lives with his wife, Margaret, in rural Appalachia near the place where he was born.
